3.22.1/3.23.11
I ran yesterday. I wore the bare foot shoes and Ill need to wear regular shoes today to let my arches heal. I did cardio with no lifting. I warmed up for 5. Then running on a treadmill at 5.6 speed. I want to work up to 6.2. if I run at 4.6 in the barefoot shoes no arch stress. So I run for 6 minutes then walk at 3.6 for 2 minutes then run for 6.
When I started 6 weeks ago I could only run for 4 min then I had to walk for the remaining 16. In the last 2 weeks I added a 5 min warm up walking at 3.6 and it covers .25 of a mile. Then jog/walk for 20. After I cool down for 2-3 min. I can always make it 1.3 miles in my 20 min of cardio....the time and distance is slowly improving...
If I lift I have to do the warm-up to transfer the blood from the muscles to my legs. I discovered this last week when my groin muscle twinged from my knee all the way up. When I felt this I stopped running and went to stretched for a few min then walked for 5. After all this, no more twinge and my 20 min of cardio went flawless.
I always thought I would be plenty warmed up after lifting but after listening to my body I was wrong. Better to take the extra time for better results.....
Day 2 of Isaac working at RiverFit today. We lifted chest and tri's and I feel perfectly sore. Back and Bi's today......and cardio with normal shoes.....

Jeff...are you following a program to build your running up or just doing what you can each day?
Jeanie... I am slowly increasing it in-till I can run 2 miles in 20 minuets straight. I also am trying to get my feet use to the barefoot shoes so I can make the 2 mile run in them. Do you know about the barefoot shoes?

Yes...I've seen the barefoot shoes. My sister and brother both have a pair and they love them. I haven't tried them yet though. What's your take? Other than taking some time to get used to them...do you like them?
Jeanie I have some from Tera Plana. From over in Britain. I love them. They take a while to get use to. Your feet have been in the other shoes for your whole life so your body has to adapt. Now mine are not toe shoes, they look normal. Until this march only toe shoes sold here in Jax but now there are a few different kinds around town. So I like walking around in them because I can feel my feet and toes working together. When I run I feel it in my muscles and not in my joints. Squats and dead lifts are better in the shoes. I think they look cool and defiantly different looking. They make me want to walk around with no shoes; perfect for the beach.....You should get some......bellow are mine VIVOBAREFOOT

Looking into them now. Last question...they have trainers, cross trainers, and running shoes. What's the difference? Can you run in the trainers and/or cross trainers? Are the trainers/cross trainers for people who also lift and train other than running?
